Tanduay Rockfest in Davao City

And this came in almost last in my 2012 backlogs...sorry my beloved readers but this 2013 should be better. Lets fix everything and get things in line.

Octoberfest is not only a month of flowing beers in the festive country of Philippines. Its also the month where endless concerts and parties happen. 

Each year, Tanduay hosts a concert series that trails from the three main islands of the Philippines--Mindanao, Visayas and Luzon. For the Mindanao leg, my beloved Davao City as chosen as the venue and no better place than the speed city near the Crocodile Park is more appropriate to host such a big event.

With our favorite local bands in the list, we sought for the tickets, prepared our cameras and luckily on that day, we were allowed to sneak in the VIP area. We were just meters away from the stage and on some moments, the singers were just a hop away. :) To top it all, Up Dharma Down opened the concert (although with just a couple of songs)!

Okay okay, enough stories and allow me to share the few photos I had during the concert because I got too excited and forgot to charge my camera battery!!! (>fail<)

Photography: Ballet and Powder

And my first attempt.

A few months back, I have been wanting to try on new photography concepts to break away from my comfort zone of portraiture. This time, we decided to try the powder photography and with the help from my fellow Photobombers, we found three lovely ladies to pose for us, a studio where we enjoyed jumping around and tested Daryl's two new gigantic softboxes.

I was initially planning to create a setup that will use gels to color the powder but we realized that its getting complicated and we have limited time in the studio so we moved forward to trying to capture the powder while our ballerinas are in motion/ jumping.

Here are some of the output from me, and Sam Ortiz and Darryl Lara as well.

Some of the problem I encountered during the shoot are: the background cloth was too small (it was already late when I realized that the other half was missing) and the light mastery. I guess I have a long way to go to know more about strobes and studio lights but this session was really rewarding to me.

Special thanks to our models Shannon, Chrizza and LJ (the sweetest trio girls I've met), and to my beloved crew who gathered their brains to help me pull off my shoot...Ate Nana, Daryl, Sam, Sir Biboy, Jakey (HMUA), Sir Ken, Manong Norman and Te Neil.

Cellar de Boca Opens in SM Lanang Premier

A Wine Kitchen.

Cellar de Boca is the best place to visit when you wish to experience a good array of top recipe (from appetizers to steaks) and an excellent choice of wines. Almost a month ago, the most hospitable and kind partners of Cellar de Boca, Vince, Tricie, Carlo and Bobby invited some of Davao Bloggers to take part in their opening celebration.

We were honored to taste some of the specialties of the kitchen and also of course, their Lagarde Wines from their bar.

A brief background will enlighten you of the wonderful tradition that the Cellar de Boca is bringing. Do not confuse yourself if you find of a cozy place near Rizal Street called Cellar de Oboza because the same couple who are among the four partners, Vince and Tricie Arcenas owns and manages the Filipino-Spanish restaurant and brought some of their famous dishes for you to indulge in Cellar de Boca. On the other hand,  Bobby Tenchavez and Carlo Lorenzana (thus, the "Boca" in the brand name) are the exclusive wine importers of the Bodega Lagarde (Argentina) which is primarily the wine that you will enjoy in Cellar de Boca.

If you find yourself craving for the 'teaser' photos that I have posted here, go and reward your tummy and enjoy the excellent, excellent food and (do not forget) wine of Cellar de Boca that you will find in the second floor of SM Lanang Premier fronting the dancing fountain.
